About the Role:

The Community Engagement Coordinator will be an integral part of our Defence Member and Family Support Branch (DMFS) Townsville team, playing a key role in helping Defence families connect with their wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with Defence families, key stakeholders, and the wider community to build strong relationships and promote networking opportunities.
  • Organise and facilitate social functions to promote Defence family events and activities.
  • Develop innovative ways to promote and deliver DMFS programs and services.
  • Provide information and advice about local community resources and services.
  • Participate in Command and Unit facilitated events and functions for families.
  • Build knowledge of community services and engage with service providers to inform them of the needs of Defence families.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team.

You will also require strong organisational and event planning skills, with the ability to coordinate functions and prioritise tasks. A degree in a relevant field, such as community engagement or public relations, would be highly regarded.

The Defence Member and Family Support Branch (DMFS), Directorate of Regional Engagement offers a broad range of programs and services to help Commanders, Australian Defence Force members and their families manage the military way of life. We support Defence families' self-reliance and increase the capacity of the wider community to support the needs of Defence families.

Our Team:

You will be joining a dynamic and collaborative team that consists of Defence Social Workers, Military Support Officers, an Educational Liaison Officer, and Business Support Officer. We work together to provide crisis support, advice to Commanders, referrals to external agencies, information on local services, education advice and general information on Defence matters.
