Apprentice Equipment Specialist

This is a rare opportunity to take part in Qenos's well-supported program with guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals.

  • As an Apprentice Equipment Specialist, you will work on a wide variety of equipment and enjoy the unique challenges that come from such a diverse role.
  • You will collaborate with a team of long-term, highly competent employees who are experts in their fields.

The successful applicant will receive a competitive salary package together with free onsite parking, a detailed induction, onboarding, and development program.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Act as a technical authority to confirm risk assessments and priority setting.
  2. Establish appropriate maintenance regimes and interval setting (preventative & predictive maintenance programs).
  3. Provide a depth of predictive maintenance skills for plant equipment, including fixed and rotating equipment.
  4. Perform Root Cause Analysis of equipment failures and define improvement actions.
  5. Take part in improvement teams within assigned area of responsibility to improve equipment performance of safety measures.
  6. Assess conflicting priorities and determine what is the critical path based on analytical thought/business processes.
  7. Be comfortable when working at heights or in confined spaces.
  8. Be tenacious when problems arise to meet operational and business requirements, including SH&E, Reliability performance, plant efficiency, and fixed costs.
  9. Participate in work planning and goods issue including the use of SAP CMMS.
  10. Coordinate Contractors and Apprentices.
  11. Maintain and update maintenance information systems.
Requirements:
  1. Trade Qualifications such as Certificate 3 or 4 in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Completed apprenticeship.
  3. Strong mechanical aptitude and computer literacy.
  4. Team-player mindset - someone who is also flexible and agile.
  5. Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
  6. Exceptional attention to detail to conduct precision maintenance.
  7. Full of initiative.
  8. Positive attitude towards learning.
  9. Sound interpersonal skills.
  10. Ability to effectively prioritise and be decisive.
  11. Experience in a major hazardous facility highly regarded.
