Job Title: Finance Support Officer

This role is a vital part of our organisation's operations, ensuring the maintenance and upholding of core procure-to-pay validations, accounts payable processing, and financial data integrity checks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for validating and processing payments, providing support to the business team around purchase requisitions, performing exception checking and reporting, supporting transactional reconciliations, assisting in vendor data management, and maintaining accurate financial records in financial systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and coordinating accounting and financial information to contribute to robust and consistent reporting that complies with Department objectives, government policy, accounting standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Providing administrative assistance determined by team priorities and participating in the development of management reporting systems and accounting methods to improve existing procedures and the communication of financial information.
  • Validating and supporting financial transactions, including vendor invoice processing, requisition checks, and delegated payment approvals, ensuring compliance with policy and timely resolution of business enquiries.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and service delivery divisions to exchange information, obtain cooperation, and support, and provide financial information.
Requirements
  • Understanding of accounting, financial, and payable procedures and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, Treasury Directions, and Public Finance and Audit Act.
  • Demonstrated capability in collaboration, information presentation, and reporting.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
