Ventia is a leading infrastructure services company operating across Australia and New Zealand. Our clients are the owners and operators of assets critical to our local communities.

We are seeking a qualified Plumber to join our team at HMAS Cerberus, working in partnership with the Australia Defence Force. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing plumbing trade activities, including installation, maintenance, repair, replacement, and ensuring the integrity and performance of equipment and facilities within the contract.

This is a permanent full-time role working 07:00-15:30, Monday to Friday. You will be reporting to the Infrastructure Services Manager and will be expected to:

  • Display solid hands-on technical skills, developed through trade training and experience.
  • Ensure ongoing maintenance tasks are appropriately planned and executed in accordance with state regulations, including determining task priorities and creating support documentation.
  • Effectively diagnose problems and perform work of a technical nature on plumbing systems.
  • Be proactive in addressing customer complaints and demonstrate competence in establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with clients.
  • Perform work in a safe manner, abiding by Defence and Ventia's legislative safe work procedures, instructions, and safety management practices.
  • Observe quality and technical procedures, work instructions, and practices.

Key skills and experience required for this role include:

  • Ability to multitask with significant hands-on experience in an operational plumbing environment, including diagnosing problems and determining effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of planned maintenance principles and legislative requirements.
  • Ability to learn and use proprietary software necessary to support the position.
  • Basic understanding of Computerised Maintenance Management System.
  • Understanding of MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to interact effectively with technical staff, subcontractors, senior military officers, and client representatives.

Requirements for this role include:

  • A current VIC Plumbing licence.
  • Water Licence.
  • Sanitary Licence.
  • Drainage Licence.
  • Backflow Licence (desirable).
  • Gas Fitter (desirable).
  • White Card.
