At Thales, we're driving progress in the naval industry by pushing the boundaries of what's possible. As a Pipe Fabricator, you'll play a critical role in manufacturing and installing pipework for ship repair, working in a variety of environments on naval vessels.

About Your Role

As a key member of our Garden Island site team, you'll be responsible for:

  • Jigging up, marking off, bending, and fabricating pipework to meet the highest standards.
  • Operating workshop machinery, including hydraulic benders and threading machines.
  • Working across different environments on naval vessels, from basic maintenance to major overhauls.
  • Assisting in the development of apprentices' skills.
  • Collaborating with a team that encourages new ideas and improvements.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a skilled and safety-conscious individual with:

  • Cert III Plumbing as a minimum requirement.
  • Experience in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, with Cert III Welding/Fabrication advantageous.
  • Forklift, Dogman, working at heights, and confined spaces tickets (advantageous).
  • Sound problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety.
  • Experience in ship repair or heavy industry (highly regarded).

As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
