Marine Maintenance Professional

This position involves conducting routine planned maintenance, attending to breakdowns, assisting contractors in higher level maintenance, supporting onboard engineers and skippers, and performing various ad-hoc tasks.

As a key member of our professional maritime support team, you will work alongside resources in HSEQ and Crewing to deliver exceptional performance consistently.

  • You will gain exposure to 3 vessels with varying lengths.
  • Heavy diesel machinery including high-speed engines.
  • Auxiliary systems like air-conditioning, refrigeration, pumps, hydraulics, and sullage systems.
  • Electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Dry dock works including propeller and shaft repairs.
  • Hull structures and fittings.
  • General handyman tasks on a day-to-day basis.

Skill Requirements:

  • Professionalism across all business levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound knowledge of workshop practices, including OH&S and housekeeping.
  • Basic understanding of WH&S obligations relevant to the marine/transport industry.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Mechanical Trade (Diesel fitter, electrical, refrigeration, or plumbing) is preferred but not essential.
  • Work within confined spaces ticket and Working at Heights ticket are also desirable.
  • Senior First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation certifications would be beneficial.
  • Open Drivers Licence is required.
  • Marine Engine Drivers Ticket is an asset but not necessary.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in welding, painting, plumbing, electrical fault-finding, and basic workshop practices is highly valued.
  • Skilled in servicing, periodical inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to commercial vessels.
  • The ability to work proactively in a dynamic team environment is crucial for success in this role.
