About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Day Surgery & Surgical Admissions team at Newcastle Private Hospital, a leading private hospital facility in the region.

As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and challenging environment. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based nursing care and ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide acute nursing care in accordance with legislation and hospital policies
  • Deliver evidence-based nursing care to patients in the Day Surgery and Surgical Admissions areas
  • Liaise with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care
  • Ensure patient and staff safety through effective risk management and quality improvement initiatives
  • Supervise and direct nursing team members to deliver patient care
  • Proactively assess and improve perioperative nursing care to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Complete all required documentation in accordance with local and national policies
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant post-registration experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in an acute surgical unit, preferably in a Day Surgery, Admissions, or Recovery setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of quality improvement initiatives using research principles to support evidence-based practice
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a supportive team and advocate for individualized patient-centered care
  • Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations
  • Advanced communication skills as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility to work a seven-day roster, including night duty

Newcastle Private Hospital is a 189-bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. We offer a range of services, including cardiac care, oncology, and maternity services. Our hospital has 11 theatres, including a hybrid theatre, and a 15-bed Intensive Care Unit.
