Job Summary:

The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs is seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Director to join our National Coordination Mechanism Branch. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of national crisis exercising and lessons management programs, working collaboratively across the Australian Government and states and territories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of crisis exercise and/or lessons projects and programs, leading a high-performing team and ensuring quality outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including state, territory, and industry representatives, to inform policy and decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice and support to the National Crisis Exercising and Lessons Forum and National Crisis Exercise Steering Committee, contributing to the development of national crisis exercising and lessons management strategies.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the Emergency Management and Response Group to ensure effective coordination and delivery of crisis management initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in crisis management, emergency response, or related fields, with a strong understanding of Australia's crisis and emergency response architecture.
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills, with the ability to drive effective exercise and/or lessons management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to represent the Department at national-level planning groups and events.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, and community groups.
