Job Opportunity: Deputy Emergency Management Commissioner

This role presents a challenging and rewarding opportunity to provide strategic operational leadership in developing emergency management capability, risk, and high-quality response to, and coordination of, emergency incidents at state and regional levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with agencies, government entities, the private sector, and NGOs on critical issues through liaison, consultation, and negotiation.
  • Alert senior officials to sensitive and significant issues as they emerge.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Exhibit sound judgment and awareness of the political context, with proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in leading capability development and emergency management risk assessments, managing emergency incidents at a senior management level within an emergency sector agency or state/national level emergency management control environment.
About You:
  • An accomplished executive, people leader, and problem solver with senior leadership experience in emergency management and coordination of operational capability development and risk assessment activities in a complex operating environment.
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of Victoria and Commonwealth emergency management arrangements, legislation, and plans, along with a working knowledge of Incident Management systems.
