Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Classroom Learning Support Assistant. This role is responsible for providing dedicated support to students with disabilities and additional learning needs, promoting an inclusive learning environment where all students can reach their full potential.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers to identify and address student needs. About the Role

As a Classroom Learning Support Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting teachers and students in and outside the learning spaces
  • Supporting the supervision of small groups and/or individual students on activities, as directed by the teacher
  • Undertaking specific tasks with individuals or small groups of students under the guidance of the teacher
  • Toileting and supervising students during break times (on a shared roster)
  • Supporting students and/or teachers in the use of technology
  • Assisting students with physical, medical, or mobility challenges
Key Responsibilities

Some key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing tailored support and strategies to students with diverse learning needs
  • Working closely with classroom teachers to identify and address student needs
  • Developing and implementing effective plans to promote student inclusion and engagement
  • Collaborating with colleagues to share knowledge and best practices in supporting students with diverse learning needs
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • An understanding of and commitment to the principles of inclusive education
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and other support staff
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge
  • Demonstrated proficiency in web-based applications found in the contemporary school setting

  • Awareness of supporting English language learners and cultural sensitivity
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in web-based applications found in the contemporary school setting
  • High level analysis and problem-solving skills
  • A bias for action and improvement
  • An ability to work as part of a team and contribute positively to staff professional culture
  • NSW Working with Children Check
  • Successful Candidate to undertake a National Criminal History Check
  • Accreditation for Support Staff in a Catholic School (Category A) or willing to achieve
