Analytics Position for Catastrophe Research

This exciting opportunity is open to highly skilled professionals who can analyze data related to natural hazards and help our organization make informed decisions.

Job Description:

  • We seek a motivated and analytically minded individual to join our successful team as a Catastrophe Research Analyst.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting, manipulating, and interrogating spatial and tabular data for use in risk-based pricing products related to natural hazards.
  • You will perform geospatial and scientific data analysis on natural hazards across Australia and New Zealand, analyzing client data to assess the exposure of companies to these hazards.
  • You will communicate results to internal and external stakeholders, engaging them through the management of specific projects and programs of work.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience with SQL Server data manipulation and analysis.
  • Advanced GIS analysis skills (ESRI and/or QGIS).
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant fields of study: Natural Hazards, GIS, Physical Geography, Earth Science. A postgraduate (MSc) is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-discipline to manage own workflow and deadlines with excellent communication capability.
  • An understanding of the local (re)insurance industry is an advantage.
  • An understanding of catastrophe loss models is an advantage.
