Overview of Our Program

The NT Remote Locum Program is an Aboriginal-led workforce program dedicated to strengthening healthcare services in remote communities across the Northern Territory.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Deliver dental therapy services to patients in remote NT communities as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Culturally safe and high-quality care delivery in collaboration with Aboriginal Health Practitioners, General Practitioners, nurses, and support staff.
  • Participation in on-site care delivery during short-term locum placements (three to twelve weeks) based on assignment requirements.

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Current Oral Health Scheduled Substance Treatment Protocol (SSTP) certificate within the past two years.
  • NT Radiation License or application for license required.
  • Minimum two years full-time post-graduate clinical experience as a dental therapist.
  • Minimum 250 hours relevant full-time clinical experience as a dental therapist within the past twelve months.
  • Current BLS/CPR Certificate required.
