Community Youth Specialist
About the Role:The Children's Court Youth Diversion Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring young people before the Children's Court of Victoria have access to and complete youth diversion programs.
This involves conducting same-day assessments following a magistrate's referral, advising the court on suitability for diversion, and reporting back to the court on a young person's compliance with the court's direction.
The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the youth justice system, particularly the principles and philosophy underpinning relevant legislation and the Victorian Youth Justice program.
They will also demonstrate advanced skills in case management and case work, as well as excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct same-day assessments following a magistrate's referral.
- Advise the court on suitability for diversion.
- Report back to the court on a young person's compliance with the court's direction.
- Proven understanding of the youth justice system.
- Advanced understanding of case management and case work.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Qualifications at a Bachelor or Diploma level, including units of study in case management/casework practice and supervised practical placements.
- Make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
