Leading Early Intervention Service for First Episode Psychosis

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to evidence-based intervention in the Child and Youth Mental Health Service within Northern Sydney Local Health District. We are seeking a consultant child & adolescent psychiatrist to lead an early intervention service for first episode psychosis, catering for young people up to 25 years old.
This position offers a unique chance to further your interest in psychotic illness while working with a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in NSLHD facilities.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience as a senior clinician in acute adolescent and/or adult psychiatry, with knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act (2007) and alignment with Local Health District and national mental health priorities.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in NSLHD facilities.
- Lead in assessment and management of young people and families with first presentations of psychotic illness.
- Supervise registrars and participate in the CYMHS on-call roster.
- Collaborate with Unit Director, NUM, CYMHS colleagues and external agencies to ensure appropriate inpatient care and bed allocation.
- Contribute to teaching, training, research, quality improvement and patient safety activities.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or eligibility for Specialist Psychiatrist registration; or overseas-trained equivalent.
- Certificate of Advanced Training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (RANZCP) or Membership of the Faculty of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (RANZCP) or currently enrolled in such training or equivalent qualifications.
- Strong clinical, diagnostic and teamwork skills appropriate for an independent Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Consultant.
- High-level interpersonal and communication skills; ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team.
