The role of the Senior Leader, Economic Policy and Insights plays a pivotal part in shaping the direction of the agency by leading the development of long-range strategy, delivering enterprise reporting, integrating performance intelligence and providing robust advice to guide decision-making.
Leading a team that brings together strategic foresight, planning, engagement and enterprise reporting and messaging into a consolidated capability that supports the CEO, Executive and broader leadership cohort.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and integration of the agency's long range enterprise strategy and planning frameworks.
- Deliver high-quality internal and external reporting, including the Corporate Plan.
- Interpret complex data and policy signals and provide system-level advice to guide agency positioning.
- Offer authoritative guidance on economic trends, and the feasibility and implications of strategic directions.
- Develop insights to inform strategic messaging and support the communication of the agency's vision and outcomes.
- Establish and continuously improve enterprise performance measurement and evaluation frameworks.
- Provide strategic foresight through scenario modelling and risk-informed planning.
- Steward the agency's insight ecosystem – connecting data holders, surfacing strategic questions and reducing duplication.
- Collaborate with internal teams and the academic community to publish research that contributes to policy debate and establishes the agency as a thought leader in regulation and financial services.
- Partner with agencies such as Treasury, Finance, and APSC to ensure the agency is positioned to respond to and influence national policy agendas.
- Represent the agency in external forums and participate in relevant communities of practice to ensure the agency remains informed of best practices in data analytics and economic modelling.
- Build strategic capability across the organisation by modelling analytical rigour, collaboration, and clear direction.
- Lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team with a shared commitment to integrity, evidence-based decision-making, and public service outcomes.
Travel will be a requirement for the role.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-graduate qualifications in economics, strategy, data science, business administration or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in public sector strategy, performance reporting or regulatory reform.
- High-level critical thinking and policy modelling capabilities.
- Strong track record in senior stakeholder engagement and executive advising.
- Demonstrated established credibility in both domestic and international forums.
- Proven capability to lead and integrate cross-functional teams in fast-paced, high-trust environments.
