
Network Development Specialist

The successful candidate will lead strategic planning and development of the subtransmission network, conducting detailed analysis of network constraints and developing augmentation or support options.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver power system studies using simulation tools and provide technical advice to ensure optimal network performance.
- Prepare long-term network development plans and economic cases to inform investment decisions.
- Specify network development expenditure for asset management and regulatory submissions to maintain compliance with industry standards.
- Lead Regulatory Investment Tests and Electricity Distribution Price Reset proposals to drive business growth and improve customer outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to National Electricity Rules and Victorian Distribution Code by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulations and industry best practices.
- Maintain bushfire safety compliance through REFCL planning and implementation to protect people and property.
- Model network performance and produce planning and external reports to inform decision-making and drive business success.
- Forecast demand, fault levels, and distribution loss factors to optimize network operations and minimize costs.
- Provide technical direction for connections, outages, contingencies, and emergencies to ensure safe and efficient network operation.
- Liaise with key stakeholders including AEMO, AER, councils, developers, and other organizations to facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
- Evaluate embedded generation and major load connection proposals to ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Support non-network solutions to reduce demand and defer investment in new infrastructure.
- Simplify complex engineering analysis for operational teams to enhance understanding and improve decision-making.
- Promote continuous improvement in planning processes and systems to drive business excellence and innovation.
- Assist with major unplanned event investigations and strategic risk management to minimize disruption and ensure business continuity.
