About the Role

The Future Generation Joint Venture (FGJV) is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Manager to join our team in Cooma, NSW. As a key member of our payroll team, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing FGJV's payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff in the department.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Advise payroll team members about taxes and employment laws on salary.
  • Calculate wage increments, overtime payments, and public holiday pay.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
  • White Card.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Payroll.
  • Minimum of 1 year's experience in a supervisory role.

  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with payroll software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed time management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
