The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated Youth Development Coordinator to join our team in Port Augusta. This is a casual position, offering the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

As a Youth Development Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing outreach patrol and service delivery through the Port Augusta Youth Safe Transport Service (PAYSTS) program. Your primary goal will be to ensure the safe transportation of youth and children to a place of safety between the hours of 7pm and 10pm on weekdays and 6pm and 2am on weekends.

We have multiple casual positions available, and salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 4 Award.

About the Role

This role involves overseeing and responding to the day-to-day needs of young people connected with the program. You will engage with at-risk Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal young people, provide transport to places of safety, establish relationships that encourage self-determination and participation, and assess clients' issues, needs, circumstances, and risk at initial contact.

You will also assist clients in accessing support services, establishing community supports, and advocating with service providers when necessary. Additionally, you will establish mentoring relationships with at-risk young people, facilitate group work sessions to enhance development of life and living skills and community engagement, and assist with the frontline implementation and review of practice models/processes and implementation of change.

What You Will Bring

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Community Services or a relevant field (or willingness to achieve this)
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment
  • Relevant experience in facilitation of group work
  • Working with Children Check
  • Driver's Licence
  • First Aid
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
