About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Model Risk Governance Specialist to join our team at Westpac Group.

As a key member of the Model Risk Governance team, you will play a critical role in measuring and reporting model risk across the Group and harnessing recent changes and uplift to Model Risk Policy and Standard.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact projects and develop your skills in model governance, compliance, and regulatory risk management.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in model risk management, governance, compliance, or related risk functions, with experience working with financial institutions.

You should also possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to senior stakeholders.

In terms of specific qualifications, you will require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as finance, mathematics, or statistics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the model triage process, ensuring that all models are properly classified and registered according to the new Model Risk Policy and Standard.
  • Develop tracking for the transition of models to the new Policy and Standard, including migration of model registrations, independent validations, and key model risk metrics.
  • Assist in the building of artefacts to aid the business in adopting the new Policy and Standard, such as documentation of new templates, Standard Operating Procedures, as well as education and training tools.
  • Support the Senior Manager, Model Governance in preparing model risk reports and insights for review and oversight at Group committees and forums.
