The Quality Assurance (QA) team at a leading aerospace organization plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in our products.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced QA Welding Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing internal and external inspections to ensure that weldments and structures meet specific acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform inspections to determine if a weldment/structure meets acceptance criteria using visual examination and non-destructive testing methods
  • Interpret codes and specifications in accordance with drawing requirements to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Use computer systems to compile and submit inspection data for review and analysis
  • Recommend and approve repairs as well as perform visual inspection of work in progress and completed work to prevent defects and ensure quality
  • Monitor welding processes to ensure compliance with qualified procedures and technical specifications
  • Verify and document welder qualifications to ensure competence and adherence to industry standards
  • Verify compliance of base metals with applicable specifications and materials requirements
  • Appraise welding joint designs and joint preparations for compliance with drawing requirements and industry standards
  • Verify proper fit, cleanliness, and environmental conditions during fabrication and assembly
  • Verify tack weld quality and preheat and interpass temperatures to ensure soundness and consistency
  • Assure proper control and handling of welding consumables and equipment to prevent contamination and damage
  • Verify interpass and final cleaning to ensure surface quality and prevent defects
  • Assure product conformity to drawings and specifications through rigorous inspection and testing
  • Verify cleanliness and weld surface quality to ensure appearance and functionality
  • Oversee NDT examinations, proof, and mechanical testing if required to ensure structural integrity and safety
  • Oversee repair activities to ensure timely and effective resolution of defects and nonconformities
  • Verify proper performance of post-weld heat treatments to enhance material properties and prevent degradation
  • Confirm adequate documentation of fabrication and inspection activities to ensure transparency and accountability
  • Assist in training and developing of other teammates to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Support development of QA inspection techniques for complex geometries and new technologies
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings as required to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards
  • Interpret, evaluate, communicate, and report findings to production and engineering teams to drive improvements and resolve issues
  • Conduct vendor surveillance audits of welding and inspection work as needed to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
