As a key member of our team, we are seeking an experienced inspector with expertise in welding and nondestructive evaluation (NDE) to perform internal and external inspections. The successful candidate will be responsible for determining if weldments/structures meet acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough and accurate internal and external inspections to verify compliance with industry standards.
  • Interpret codes, specifications, and engineering drawings to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Compile and submit data on inspection results, as well as maintain records of inter-office communications.
  • Assess the quality of work in progress and completed work, making recommendations for repairs when necessary.
  • Verify that welding processes are performed in accordance with qualified procedures and applicable specifications.
  • Document welder qualifications and verify their competence.
  • Ensure base metals conform to relevant specifications.
  • Appraise welding joint designs and preparations for compliance with drawings.
  • Verify proper fit, cleanliness, and environmental conditions.
  • Examine tack weld quality and verify preheat and interpass temperatures.
  • Assure proper control and handling of welding consumables.
  • Inspect interpass and final cleaning.
  • Verify product conformity to drawings and specifications.
  • Oversee NDT examinations, proof, and mechanical testing as required.
  • Supervise repair activities and ensure they are properly documented.
  • Verify proper performance of post-weld heat treatments.
  • Confirm adequate documentation of fabrication and inspection activities.
  • Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement NDE inspection techniques for complex geometries.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings as needed.
  • Communicate findings to production and engineering teams and provide recommendations for improvement.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • Current American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Additional certifications in line with ASNT TC-1A, NAS-410, or DOD guidance in one of the following methods: Radiography (RT), digital radiography (DR), dye penetrant (PT), visual inspection (VT), computed radiography (CR), phase array (PAUT), ultrasonic (UT), ultrasonic shear wave (UTSW), or magnetic particle (MT).
  • 2+ years of experience as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards including ABS, AWS, and ASME.
  • Working knowledge of surface and subsurface NDE methodologies.
