Job Title: Horse Trainer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ride 8-10 horses per morning with emphasis on riding pace/timed work and jump outs.
  • Develop and implement effective horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing.
  • Train and educate young horses to a high standard.
  • Pre-train young horses where necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, providing instruction and information as required.
  • Work safely and efficiently, adhering to health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years full-time professional experience in horse training or at least 2 years full-time highly relevant experience and a relevant qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing.
  • Proven ability to train and educate young horses.
  • Ongoing reliability, horsemanship skills, oral and written communication skills.
