Job Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for a veterinary anaesthetist to join our team in the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences.

We are seeking a veterinarian who can provide leadership and excellence in clinical service delivery and teaching of anaesthesia to our DVM and Veterinary Technology students.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching in our programs through course coordination, lectures, tutorials, practicals and clinical rotations. They will also provide advanced anaesthesia services to our clinicians in both the Companion Animal and Large Animal (primarily equine) Hospitals.

Our team offers a world-class, outcome-based education and training centre within a leading University. Our modern and well-equipped Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital (RVH) facilities offer a range of services to the general public, ranging from primary opinion, emergency and specialist referral veterinary services across the large and companion animal side.

This role will allow you to expand your specialist expertise in the clinic as well as the classroom, and to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of a leading University and South Australia's only veterinary teaching hospital.

The successful candidate will be part of a unique team approach to delivering clinical excellence, working alongside a strong clinical support team of nurses and trainee Veterinary Technologists.

We welcome applications from Australian Fellows or American/European Boarded Anaesthesia and Analgesia specialists with a track record in excellence in patient care and a passion for imparting knowledge, teaching and mentoring students to develop their clinical thinking and skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to teaching in our programs through course coordination, lectures, tutorials, practicals and clinical rotations.
  • Provide advanced anaesthesia services to our clinicians in both the Companion Animal and Large Animal (primarily equine) Hospitals.
  • Work in a clinical training environment for final year veterinary students.
  • Contribute to the teaching and research efforts of a leading University and South Australia's only veterinary teaching hospital.
  • Participate in continuing professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest advances in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia.

Essential Requirements:

  • Specialist qualifications in Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia, i.e. Australian Fellowship (FANZCVS), or Diplomat of the American or European Colleges (DACVAA or DECVAA).
  • Qualification in Veterinary Science acceptable for registration with the relevant regulatory body.
  • Proven ability to contribute independently to a clinical service in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia.
  • Evidence of significant contributions to the teaching effort of a department, school or faculty in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia at tertiary level.
  • Strong publication track record in peer reviewed international journals and evidence of the ability to attract research funding.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of clinical, teaching and research teams.
