Job Title: Environmental Conservation Specialist

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions invites applications for a Senior Environmental Officer position. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to the conservation and management of Western Australia's unique biodiversity.

About the Role

This role will be responsible for supporting the delivery and strategic development of the Riverbank Program and associated funding schemes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Project management with foreshore land managers
  • Providing technical guidance on environmental management initiatives
  • Maintaining asset management systems to support informed decision-making

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as you will engage with government and community stakeholders, offering expert advice and contributing to reports and working groups.

The successful candidate will have a tertiary degree qualification in a relevant field and demonstrated project management skills, including resource allocation and contract management.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following four (4) essential criteria:

  1. A tertiary degree qualification relevant to natural science or an approved equivalent qualification
  2. Demonstrated project management skills, including resource allocation, contract management, and delivering projects on time and within budget
  3. Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build stakeholder relationships, resolve conflicts, and lead negotiations
  4. High-level written communication, conceptual, and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, prepare clear responses, and develop practical solutions
