Academic Coordinator Job Description

The Academic Coordinator serves as the primary academic contact for the School of Education on the Sydney campus. This role oversees the quality of teaching and learning in courses delivered by the school, ensuring high-quality resources and assessment materials are available to students.

This position is responsible for maintaining consistency in learning and assessment materials, supporting academic staff performance, and coordinating teaching quality. The Academic Coordinator will also conduct allocated teaching, assessment, and student consultations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee subject delivery and ensure consistency of learning and assessment materials
  • Maintain quality teaching resources via the Learning Management System (LMS), available prior to each study period
  • Support academic staff performance and coordinate teaching quality
  • Conduct allocated teaching, assessment, and student consultations
  • Monitor course quality and implement continuous improvements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum AQF Level 9 qualification in Early Childhood Education (Level 10 preferred)
  • Professional experience in course coordination, academic management, and teaching and learning development
  • Experience in academic management within a higher education environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team, including driving people and culture processes
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Knowledge of contemporary developments in the discipline or field, informed by continuing scholarship and/or practice
  • Skills in contemporary teaching, learning, and assessment principles specific to the discipline or field
  • Experience in course review leading to improved course design and student outcomes
  • Understanding of requirements associated with regulatory frameworks, especially the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021
  • IT literacy, particularly Microsoft Office and any LMS
