English Coordinator Role Overview

This is a strategic and operational leadership role responsible for shaping the learning experience and outcomes for English students. The role combines ownership of the subject learning program with active involvement in day-to-day academic operations, including classroom teaching, educator support, class planning, mentoring students, and maintaining academic standards.


Main Responsibilities:
  1. Design and Development: Own the end-to-end design and continuous improvement of Matrix English Courses for NESA standards.
  2. Teaching and Learning Materials: Lead the creation of high-impact teaching and learning materials including theory books, homework, assessments, and digital content.
  3. Performance Analysis: Use student performance data, teacher insights, and parent feedback to iterate and improve course offerings.
  4. Classroom Experience: Teach a minimum load each term to stay connected to the classroom experience and role model best-in-class teaching.
  5. Culture and Collaboration: Promote a culture of reflective practice and collaborative professional learning across the teaching team.
  6. Student Progress: Monitor academic performance across classes and identify areas for intervention or improvement.
  7. Team Leadership: Lead a team of academic writers to develop high-quality teaching and learning resources, ensuring outputs are delivered on time and to standard.

Requirements:
  • Management Experience: Minimum two years' of experience in management of educational course design and staff or a project management role.
  • Classroom Teaching: Extensive classroom teaching experience in English, Literature or Communications.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of the current stage 4-6 NESA English curriculum, including methods of assessment.
  • Learning Program Design: Proven success in learning program design and learning resource development.
  • Educator Leadership: Experience leading educators and fostering teaching excellence.
  • Data Driven Decisions: Ability to use student data and feedback to drive product improvements.
  • Tertiary Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Literature, Journalism, Education or a related field.
