Job Overview

The Food Innovation Technologist will drive and deliver food renovation/innovation for KFC menu items in line with marketing strategies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of food renovation/innovation projects, including packaging design for KFC menu items.
  • Contribute to the food innovation program and collaborate with the Marketing Department on marketing content and timing.
  • Develop operational procedures, including cooking cycles and set points for all meal occasions.
  • Evaluate raw materials, revise specifications, and document in-plant procedures/controls/specifications, including packaging evaluation/approval.
  • Provide food technology support to Supply Chain Management, Operations, Finance, and Marketing.
  • Develop new products and improve existing products across meal occasions, leveraging supplier capabilities with ingredients.
  • Drive projects to timely conclusions and prepare concise reports with action recommendations and justification.
  • Discuss and translate technical, production, and operational topics with personnel across internal and external teams.
  • Contribute ideas to future pipeline development and improve innovation hit rate.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure feasibility and alignment with brand goals.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary degree in Food Technology/Science or related discipline.
  • Experience in product development, processing, quality programs, and sensory evaluation.
  • Experience in quick service restaurants (QSR) or with chicken preferred; food service experience with multi-unit operations and exposure to restaurant design, layout, operation, and equipment is beneficial.
  • Creative yet practical mindset with the ability to develop/evaluate concepts, new products, and improve systems using technical knowledge and testing standards.
  • Ability to interpret marketing/industry information and product research for strategic use at KFC.
  • Strong project management, reporting, and communication skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to discuss a diverse range of technical and operational topics with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, work ethic, prioritization, planning, and coaching abilities.
  • Hands-on, can-do attitude; comfortable working in a test kitchen environment.
