Prior Authorization Specialist Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Prior Authorization Specialist. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our clients receive the medical equipment and supplies they need in a timely and efficient manner.
Responsibilities:
- Support intake staff by assisting with insurance verification.
- Initiate authorization requests with insurance companies and government payers and obtain necessary documentation.
- Communicate and report to case management any insurance-related issues for order fulfillment.
- Monitor outstanding authorization requests and initiate follow-up of authorizations in a timely manner.
- Assist with insurance changes when prior authorizations are needed.
- Manage phone calls related to prior authorizations.
Requirements:
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail and team-oriented.
- Effective communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
- Proven computer proficiency, the use of multiple applications simultaneously.
