Job Opportunity

The role of Senior Research Communications Officer requires a professional to work at the forefront of nationally significant environmental research, supporting the delivery of communications strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the creation, development, and coordination of science communication products and activities, including writing plain-language summaries, media releases, newsletter stories, and graphical content to explain research findings to target audiences.

  • Contributing to the website and social media channels, organizing events, and engaging with a broad network of stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, indigenous groups, natural resource managers, environment organisations, community groups, and the media.
  • Developing and implementing effective communication strategies to translate scientific outcomes into targeted communication products, such as fact sheets, posters, newsletter stories, graphical and conceptual diagrams.
  • Utilizing Adobe Creative Suite to produce high-quality communication materials.
About the Role
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in science communication or demonstrated equivalent competency in communicating science (preferably environment related).
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and translate scientific outcomes into targeted communication products.
  • Experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, indigenous groups, natural resource managers, environment organisations, community groups, and the media.

Special requirements include holding a current 'C' or 'CA' class driver's licence and occasional travel within the state and interstate may be required.
