Job Title: Head of Research and Innovation – Personal Care

CS Executive Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Research and Innovation to lead our personal care research and development team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for fostering creativity and productivity within a dynamic, modern R&D laboratory and upholding continuous stringent quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a skilled Research & Development team, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and innovation.
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to discontinuation, ensuring products are continuously improved and optimised.
  • Ensure formulations align with current and future market demands and consumer needs.
  • Ensure compliance of the R&D laboratory with TGA and GMP standards.
  • Identify and develop innovative personal care products to enhance the product portfolio.
  • Continuously improve and streamline the product development process to enhance speed to market and reduce costs.
  • Manage projects effectively to meet target cost and timeline objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and enhancements in existing formulations and procedures.
  • Identify alternative sources for raw materials to optimise supply chain efficiency.
  • Monitor global trends and changes within the personal care category to inform product development.
  • Oversee the formula development schedule, ensuring adherence to product development timelines.
  • Provide timely and accurate information to internal and external customers.
  • Offer technical assistance to Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Sales departments as needed.
  • Manage departmental expenditure to ensure alignment with budgetary goals.
  • Capture all research and development activities to maximise R&D grant assistance.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of a Diploma in personal care or relevant degree qualifications in science. A Masters or PhD will be well-regarded.
  • Substantial experience in research and development of personal and/or sun care products including familiarity with relevant technologies and equipment.
  • Experience in R&D at a contract manufacturing company highly regarded.
  • Substantial demonstrated experience in a senior R&D leadership role.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of TGA regulations and standards related to personal care, sun care and cosmetics to ensure compliance with relevant government legislation, and industry regulations.
  • Experience in developing and managing R&D budgets and allocating resources effectively.
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to align R&D efforts with overall business goals and market trends.
  • Strong record-keeping and reporting skills.
  • Experience in monitoring and managing the progress of multiple projects, ensuring adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, team-oriented and good work ethic with the ability to achieve successful outcomes.
