Director of Human Resources Job

The Director of Human Resources is a pivotal role within our organisation, responsible for leading the People & Culture function. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position plays a central part in shaping the associate experience and driving engagement.

This highly strategic leadership opportunity requires a passionate and seasoned professional with a deep understanding of HR strategies and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include partnering with department heads to drive performance and workforce planning, as well as championing employee relations and compliance initiatives.

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Drive business results through expert HR guidance and support operational excellence.
    • Collaborate with department heads to develop high-performing teams and foster a culture of growth and development.
  • Employee Relations & Compliance:
    • Provide authoritative advice on employment law, policies, and procedures.
    • Investigate grievances and ensure adherence to Australian IR legislation.
    • Effectively manage Workers Compensation claims.
  • Talent & Culture:
    • Develop and execute recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies.
    • Design talent acquisition plans and leverage local networks and channels.
    • Support succession planning and talent development initiatives.
  • Learning & Development:
    • Curate Sheraton training programs and learning initiatives.
    • Promote Marriott's global learning platforms and leadership development pathways.
  • Associate Experience:
    • Streamline the employee lifecycle from invitation to connection and growth.
    • Organise engaging TakeCare events and activities fostering a caring community.

About You

  • Proven hospitality experience in HR or an operational role required.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a HR Business Partner or advisory role; hospitality experience valued.
  • Leadership skills and team management expertise essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian HR/IR legislation necessary.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills required.
  • Self-motivated individual thriving in fast-paced environments.
  • Full working rights in Australia required.
