Lead Child Safety Specialist

This role requires a strong sense of social justice and an understanding that families are complex, with their own unique histories. The successful candidate will have the ability to assess and analyze risks, develop case plans, and provide critical inquiry.
About This RoleThe Senior Child Protection Practitioner is responsible for leading planning, review, and management of issues in line with best practice principles and legislative requirements. This includes supervisory responsibilities, developing others in practice, and supporting case planning advice and guidance.
Key Responsibilities- Risk assessment and analysis: further develops and coaches others in their understanding of risk assessment and analysis.
- Case planning review and case management: provides case planning advice, guidance and support to others; directly supports and inputs into cases where there is unacceptable risk to the child.
- Critical inquiry: leads planning, review and management of issues in line with best practice principles and legislative requirements.
- Supervisory responsibilities with the ability to support and develop others in practice.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel, including in regional Victoria.
- Ability to work overnight and travel in evenings and early mornings as required.
- Understanding of Aboriginal culture and the Aboriginal Child Placement Principle in child protection practice.
- Working with Children Check required.
- National police check and misconduct screening may be included in the recruitment process.
