What being a CSO meansYou'll be a voice for the voiceless, a statutory advocate for children and young people's safety and wellbeing under the Child Protection Act 1999. You'll manage complex casework with support from peers, conduct risk assessments and create case plans, and work with families, care givers, other departments, community organisations, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations. You'll provide culturally respectful and appropriate support to families from diverse backgrounds.
As a CSO you will walk with children and families to keep them safe and help build better futures.

The package includes an annual salary in the range of $101,286 – $110,366 and 12.75% superannuation, plus the following benefits:

What you need to be a CSOCSOs come from diverse backgrounds; common backgrounds include social work, youth work, counselling, psychology, or related fields. Your passion for keeping children safe is the most important attribute. The role can be challenging and confronting, but is highly rewarding and necessary.
To join as a CSO you will need:
- An Australian Driver's License and the legal right to work in Australia
- A Bachelor Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; further study or work experience is welcome
- Understanding of statutory roles, knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999, and the ability to write case notes while maintaining privacy
