Child Safety Risk Specialist

Located in East Melbourne, we are seeking an experienced candidate to support the Child Safety Program Manager in implementing child safety policies. The role will partner across the organisation to provide expert risk management advice, guidance, and reassurance on the application of child safety legislation and regulation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building strong partnerships and relationships across the organisation, sector partners, and external stakeholders. They will assess current Child Safety Risk Assessments and work with subject matter experts in child safety, youth programs, service delivery, operations, health, safety, and wellbeing to inform and review Child Safe Risk Assessments.

This includes conducting Child Safety Risk Assessments on site with relevant stakeholders to evaluate harm, risk of harm, and recommend control measures and strategies to minimise risks. The candidate will also develop educational materials to support the implementation of child safety risk assessments within the organisation's programs and service delivery functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and inform Child Safe Risk Assessments in collaboration with subject matter experts across child safety, youth programs, service delivery, operations, health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Develop educational materials to support the implementation of child safety risk assessments within the organisation's programs and service delivery functions.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating Child Safety Risk Assessments.
  • Extensive experience leading the development and establishment of risk assessments involving vulnerable children and young people.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels.
  • Knowledge of risk systems and proven success in end-to-end risk management with experience in assurance processes.
