Job Opportunity

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Linguistics Officer to support the Aboriginal language of South Australia. This role will involve collaborating with community workshops and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-quality language resource materials (online and print)
  • Work with digital linguistic tools (Audacity, Excel, audio/video recording devices) and social media platforms
  • Collaborate with community workshops and administrative tasks such as compiling project outputs for reporting
  • Support Target Schools and Aboriginal Community Educators in using developed language learning resources

Requirements:

Successful candidates will have:

  • Understanding of the history of the production of written grammars and dictionaries of Aboriginal languages
  • Broad knowledge of the issues facing Aboriginal communities in reclaiming, reviving or maintaining their heritage languages
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
