Empowering Aboriginal Youth Through Education

This is a vital position in developing programs that empower young Aboriginal people to succeed academically, culturally, and personally.
The Department for Education's South Australian Aboriginal Secondary Training Academy (SAASTA) creates a culturally safe environment that supports students to stay engaged in school and complete their SACE. The program delivers tailored curriculum and support, giving students across metropolitan, regional, and remote areas access to pathways for success.
Reporting to the Manager of SAASTA, the Aboriginal Student Engagement Coordinator will develop and lead programs designed to highly engage secondary Aboriginal students, with a focus on culture, health, language, sport, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead school programs designed to engage secondary Aboriginal students in culture, health, language, sport and wellbeing.
- Ensure access to high-quality learning resources for SAASTA staff in Academy schools.
- Collaborate with the Aboriginal Pathways directorate, SAASTA Manager, and Curriculum Coordinator Aboriginal Pathways.
The successful applicant will be required to gain a Department for Human Services working with children check and undertake Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care training.
Requirements- Relevant graduate qualifications.
- Knowledge, connectivity and experience working with Aboriginal communities and networks across South Australia and broadly.
