Financial Operations Manager

A key position exists to fill a crucial role in a renowned organisation's finance team. This senior financial operations manager will assist in managing and communicating the company's financial and corporate accounting activities on a national scale, owning aspects of their lease accounting process.

About the Role
  • Reporting into the Financial Controller, responsibilities include:
  • Own the lease accounting process for the business, following AASB16 standards.
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly and year-end tasks, pre and post to the preparation of month end management reporting and analysis.
  • Oversee tax compliance including income tax returns, FBT, GST and BAS in consultation with external advisors.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements.
  • Assist Business Unit leaders with strategies to follow up outstanding debtors.
  • Provide guidance on financial processes, procedures and maintain internal controls; focus on supporting operational functions including warehouses, logistics and inventory management activities.
  • Provide analysis, insights and recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer and Financial Controller on actual operating performance including variances, overheads spend to budget / variance.
  • Drives continuous process improvement initiatives to ensure compliance and robust internal control.
  • Lead ad-hoc projects as directed by the Chief Financial Officer and Financial Controller.
Requirements
  • Ideally, you will be a Chartered Accountant or Certified Practising Accountant qualified accounting professional.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact and engage cross-functionally within the organisation.
  • Strong attention to detail and proven lease accounting (AASB16/IFRS16) experience & knowledge.
  • Previous work experience in a large-scale, dynamic FMCG/Retail organisation is advantageous.
  • Prior training in a Big 4 chartered environment is beneficial.
