About the Opportunity

This is a permanent part-time role working 4 days per week, based in the Parramatta CBD.

  • 9am – 5pm 4 days/week (4 consecutive days)
  • Available to work one day / week from 10:00am – 6:00pm (Wednesday)

You will provide individual, youth and family counselling for families, including those navigating complex post-separation arrangements or involved in court-ordered processes. This includes innovative telehealth and digital options, child inclusive practice, and psycho-educational and therapeutic groups for individuals, young people and their parents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality individual, youth and family therapy to repair and strengthen family relationships and individual self-determination.
  • Work with other therapists to provide family therapy, using a multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Provide child consultation, as part of child inclusive practice, to families after separation and divorce, including involuntary and court-ordered clients.
  • Assist in developing, facilitating and promoting clinical group work programs within the centre, and with external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with agencies to facilitate effective services to our clients, supporting the development and implementation of specific case management models.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work or another relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience delivering individual, youth, family and couples therapy and/or experience in facilitating group programs.
  • Ability to manage high conflict individuals, youth and families with complex issues.
  • Competence in working with issues of family violence.
  • Understanding of child protection issues.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to team functioning.
  • Capacity to meet program-specific client targets.
Desirable Qualities
  • Accredited post graduate training in individual, youth or family therapy.
  • Eligibility for membership to relevant professional bodies.
  • Experience working with court ordered and involuntary clients.
  • Prior experience in youth group facilitation.
  • Experience working within a family law or child protection context.
  • Training in couples' therapy.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation.
