About the Role:

As a key member of our Landscape & Playspace team, you will be responsible for leading and managing daily operations to maintain high-quality open space assets within the municipality.

You will have ownership of ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively, while also fostering a collaborative environment among team members. Your expertise in horticulture and leadership skills will be instrumental in driving project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair a range of landscape assets using sound horticultural practices.
  • Operate and perform minor maintenance on horticultural and landscape plant and equipment.
  • Ensure playgrounds are safe and well-maintained through regular inspections and repairs.
  • Foster effective working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Adhere to organisational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the OHS Act and relevant regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of plans to enhance parklands and other open spaces.
  • Perform naturestrip reinstatements, timber fencing/bollard installations, and unsealed path maintenance/construction as required.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum Certificate III in Horticulture (Landscaping/Construction) or equivalent with demonstrated experience.
  • Excellent technical knowledge and skills in hard and soft landscape maintenance, equipment operation, and related areas.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • A commitment to occupational health and safety, quality control processes, and customer satisfaction.
  • A current manual Victorian drivers' license.
  • A Medium Rigid Truck license or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • A Skid steer loader license or willingness to obtain within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Traffic management accreditation and demonstrated experience.
  • Basic carpentry trade skills.
  • Understanding of playground safety requirements and relevant inspection training.
