Support Worker Job Description\

The Role of the Support Worker in the Early Learning Centre (ELC) is to assist the Director/Teacher and the team in providing high quality care and education for children in a community preschool setting for 3-5-year-olds.

\

This is a max term part-time position that requires the ability to work flexible hours to support the 3-5 year after school program. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and be able to develop positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.

\Key Responsibilities\
  • \
  • Assist the room teacher with the implementation of a well-planned and evaluated program for 3-5-year-olds, using the Early Years Framework.\
  • Develop a positive and supportive relationship with children.\
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment.\
  • Work with the team to ensure a compliant centre as per the Education and Care Services Regulations.\
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with families.\
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning and development opportunities.\
  • Perform other duties as required by the Manager.\
  • Attend regular staff meetings and contribute to decision making processes.
\Requirements\
  • \
  • Certificate III qualifications in Early Childhood Education or relevant experience.\
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.\
  • Current Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate.\
  • Completion of Identify & Respond to Children and Young People at Risk (CHCPRT001).\
  • Knowledge of the Education and Care National Regulations and National Quality Framework.\
  • Knowledge of Being, Belonging and Becoming.\
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check clearance.
