Job Role: Emerging Sector Mitigation Specialist

The position offers a unique opportunity to establish and implement a framework to mitigate risks in an emerging sector.

This specialist consultancy provides advisory services for emerging industries such as geological storage of carbon dioxide and hydrogen, and CO2 EOR/EGR.

You will join a team of technical specialists and work alongside reservoir engineering, geophysics, geology and regulatory specialists to deliver projects and value for customers.

This role allows you to progressively build your techno-regulatory skills, as well as your key technical skills, and provide a seamless framework for the planning and delivery of technical projects.

The framework will be consistent with the regulatory requirements for the sanction of CCUS projects, offshore and onshore.

Your central task will be the delivery of expert technical and techno-regulatory advice to member companies and other stakeholders on technical matters.

You will also support customer operational plans through the delivery of technical analysis via reports and presentations to satisfy the relevant regulatory requirements.

In addition, you will co-ordinate or contribute to peer reviews of technical outputs and other deliverables.

You will contribute to workshops and risk assessments for research and development and commercial projects.

The position requires close liaison with customers, as well as other key stakeholders, including the Commonwealth and State governments.

Key Qualifications:
  • Degree in a geoscience discipline
  • Postgraduate degree welcomed
Required Skills and Experience:
  • A background in oil and gas industry/CCUS industry/technical consulting background/relevant area of government
  • Broad technical understanding of the petroleum and CCUS project lifecycle
  • Broad understanding of Australian and overseas sedimentary basins advantageous
