Empowering Women's Rights Advocate

Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Empowering Women's Rights Advocate. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of women and children in regional communities.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality legal advice and representation in civil and criminal law matters, with a focus on domestic and family violence cases.

You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver wraparound services, including outreach travel to bush courts and remote communities.

To qualify for this role, you must hold a Bachelor of Laws and be eligible for a Practising Certificate in the Northern Territory. Experience in civil or criminal law is essential, and an understanding of trauma-informed practice will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing legal advice and representation in civil and criminal law matters
  • Representing clients in courts and tribunals, including as a duty lawyer
  • Delivering legal support to criminalised women, particularly those impacted by domestic and family violence
  • Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver wraparound services
  • Undertaking outreach travel to bush courts and remote communities
