Job Description
At Cummins Inc., we are seeking a skilled Mechanical Field Service Professional to join our team. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and basic repair activities on engines and related components at customer sites with minimal direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with customers in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring prompt and efficient attention to their needs.
- Apply the use of specialized tools and follow documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete basic repairs, including preparing required parts and tools.
- Evaluate and escalate unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisors.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on engines and related components in the field.
- Complete required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, and warranty claims via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
- Maintain service vehicles and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, and legislations.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical skills, experience, and personal qualities that enable them to provide exceptional service to our customers.
- Diagnose complex engine problems using mechanical and electronic service tools, computer software, and guided work flows.
- Interpret and analyze the interactions of internal and external electrical and mechanical systems to efficiently and correctly diagnose and repair.
- Develop and implement troubleshooting plans to resolve customer complaints and ensure successful repairs.
- Utilize electronic service tools to maintain products, diagnose issues, and interpret results to determine next steps for service resolution.
- Repair and maintain mechanical/electrical products following guidelines, using required tools within standard repair time to ensure a quality repair.
- Prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines while working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Candidate must have an Apprentice Trained Engine Technician certification (preferred) or equivalent.
- Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution is preferred.
- A valid driving permit is required, and may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Basic level field service work experience is necessary, along with intermediate level knowledge of engine products and customer service experience.
Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
This estimate is based on industry standards and location factors. Final salary will be determined by company compensation practices and individual qualifications.
