Due to ongoing expansion, Kirinari Community Services is seeking a new or experienced Behavior Support Practitioner. This role allows for remote work until an office is established in the designated region. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to continuous learning through educational pursuits or professional development opportunities.
The Kirinari Clinical Team receives referrals from a diverse range of individuals with varying circumstances and objectives. As a Behavior Support Practitioner (BSP), you will deliver specialized behavior support services to National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants and their support networks. In this capacity, you will promote positive behavior support within the organization and enhance the quality of life for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to the policies, procedures, and delegations of Kirinari, alongside relevant national and state legislation and policy, including the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of and advocate for the reduction of Restrictive Practices within Kirinari and for its clients.
- Establish positive relationships and collaborate with stakeholders, including individuals, families, specialist support services, and relevant government agencies in delivering effective behavior support.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate positive Behavior Support Plans that address challenging behaviors and improve the quality of life for participants.
- Utilize various data tools to conduct behavioral analyses and functional assessments.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to ensure high-quality service delivery and alignment with current trends.
- Manage priorities and maintain an active clinical caseload in coordination with the Clinical Services Manager.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
About You:
- A relevant degree and/or demonstrated experience in supporting individuals with disabilities and complex needs, particularly those exhibiting challenging behaviors, is highly regarded but not mandatory.
- Current registration as a core, proficient, or advanced Behavior Support Practitioner in accordance with the NDIS Capability Framework is desirable yet not essential.
- A solid understanding of relevant policies and legislation concerning Behavior Support and Restrictive Practices at both national and state levels, including the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
- A strong desire to learn and collaborate as part of a transdisciplinary team.
- Experience or a thorough understanding of the principles of Positive Behavior Support, including functional behavior assessments, development of positive behavior support plans, and their implementation and review.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside strong computer proficiency, interpersonal skills, and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of the Behavior Support team.
- Possession of a current driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to obtain a NDIS Workers Check prior to commencement.
- Ability to secure the relevant state Working With Children Check before starting.
