About John Holland
We're a leading infrastructure company that's transforming lives with everything we do. Our purpose is simple – we create better lives for people through our work. We've always known that infrastructure is about people – our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day. That's our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.
About the Role
We're looking for a skilled Signalling Systems Engineer to join our team on the Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 Project. As a Signalling Systems Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the successful installation and commissioning of signalling systems on construction sites. You'll work closely with the project team across eight different sites from Wandong to Benalla to ensure works are delivered in accordance with the project's requirements.
Project Description
Inland Rail is a game-changer for Australia's freight network, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries, and communities. The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program undertaken along approximately 305 kms of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of signalling systems on construction sites, in compliance with safety standards, project specifications, and industry regulations.
- Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, contractors, and stakeholders, to ensure the seamless integration of signalling systems with other project elements.
- Conduct on-site inspections and quality checks to verify the proper installation and functioning of signalling equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the project team, identifying any risks or delays and proposing mitigation measures.
- Assist in the preparation and review of project documentation, including signalling designs, test plans, reports, and as-built drawings.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to coordinate the procurement, delivery, and installation of signalling equipment and materials.
- Support the project team in resolving any technical challenges or issues related to signalling systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices in signalling engineering.
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with clients, stakeholders, and relevant authorities regarding signalling system requirements, progress, and approvals.
- Adhere to project timelines and budget constraints, assisting in managing resources efficiently.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, methodologies, and safety practices related to signalling engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience as a Signalling Engineer or in a similar role, within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of signalling systems, including equipment, control systems, communication protocols, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with relevant software and tools used in signalling engineering.
- Understanding of safety regulations, risk management, and quality control procedures related to signalling systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team and stakeholders.
