Signal Design Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Signal Design Engineer to join our team at the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC). As a Signal Design Engineer, you will be responsible for providing signalling design services and technical advice to our maintenance and project delivery teams, as well as third parties and major construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice and engineering solutions to maximise the reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety of existing and future signalling and level crossing systems.
- Deliver project scope through the provision of signalling design services that adhere to reliability, availability, maintainability, safety, ease of construction, environmental, and whole of life requirements.
Requirements
- An engineering degree or equivalent industry-recognised training qualification, with the ability to qualify for membership of the Institute of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE).
- Extensive knowledge of signal design processes, standards, and procedures.
- Knowledge of signalling principles, circuit design and operation, signalling components, and the implications of working with other disciplines.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of CAD systems and general IT literacy.
- Demonstrated experience in contributing to the delivery of multi-discipline projects in both 'greenfield' and 'brownfield' environments.
- Proven high-level communication skills.
- Driver's Licence – Class C.
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Understanding of the rail industry and safeworking rules that operate in each state.
- Qualifications or demonstrated experience in and knowledge of risk management principles and processes (ISO 31000).
