About the Role

As a Senior Project Engineer on the Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 Project, you'll play a crucial role in the successful delivery of the project. You'll ensure that all signalling systems are designed, installed, and commissioned to the highest standards, meet project specifications, and industry regulations. The role is primarily based out of our main office in Docklands, but it will involve travel to various construction sites to ensure project deliverables are achieved in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.

Project Overview

Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries, and communities. The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program, undertaken along approximately 305kms of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury. B2A is staged in two tranches, with Tranche 2 works delivered by John Holland, including adjustment of track alignments, provision of new road overbridges, and station modifications to enable the safe operation of double-stack freight trains across eight B2A project sites between Wandong and Benalla.

Responsibilities

The role includes:

  • Leading and managing the design, procurement, installation, and testing and commissioning of signalling systems for various project sites.
  • Leading any necessary cost estimating of works, including cost forecasting.
  • Collaborating with project teams to ensure that all signalling requirements are met and integrated seamlessly with other project elements.
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and contractors.
  • Conducting regular inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Demonstrating sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Monitoring project progress, identifying any issues or risks, and taking appropriate actions to mitigate them.
  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and relevant authorities to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Preparing and reviewing project documentation, including designs, specifications, and reports.
  • Staying updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to signalling systems.
