Legal Expert

The role involves providing expert legal guidance and representation in relation to discrimination, human rights, employment, migration, occupational health and safety law matters, and other government litigation.
The ideal candidate will possess strong legal skills, an interest in managing requests for advice and litigation, and the ability to manage significant, sensitive, and high-profile litigation in Commissions, Courts, and Tribunals.
Key Responsibilities- Providing legal advice and representation in relation to discrimination, human rights, employment, migration, and occupational health and safety law matters.
- Managing significant, sensitive, and high-profile litigation in Commissions, Courts, and Tribunals.
- Briefing external firms and directly briefing barristers as required.
- Representing the department in mediations and conciliations in the Fair Work Commission, Equal Opportunity Commissions, and Department Boards.
- Strong legal skills and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
