Manufacturing Equipment and Machinery - Industrial and Automation Specialist

A specialist is required to join an international industrial and automation company that is expanding its mechanical design team.

The specialist will report to the design manager and produce mechanical engineering drawings in line with technical and commercial requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Design, detail and develop machinery and tooling using Solid Works software.
  • Produce proposal technical drawings for customers as part of the quotation process.
  • Ensure all documentation is correctly updated, referenced and stored securely.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement within the process.
  • Highlight issues to management for process, productivity and quality improvement.
  • Ensure all documentation is updated, including schedules, manuals and spares lists.
  • Strive for the simplest design solution and improved reliability.
  • Have hands on involvement during trials and machine testing.
  • Some international travel to customers may be required.
  • Participate in improvement projects as required.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Undertake additional tasks or duties as necessary.
Requirements
  • Good working knowledge of Solid Works software and ability to work effectively as a member of a design team.
  • Work accurately, calmly and effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • React positively and calmly to sudden changes in demand.
  • Organise and communicate effectively.
  • Interact professionally at all levels.
  • Have some commercial awareness and be able to analyse situations.
  • Provide solutions and perform design calculations for mechanical components, drives and structures.
  • Ideal qualification is HNC or equivalent or above in mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, geometric tolerancing and specifications.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and mechanical design processes.
  • Fully vaccinated and hold a valid passport for travel purposes.
