Aquaculture Technician Role

You will be involved in all aspects of oyster hatchery production, supporting the team to undertake a broad range of tasks including operational aspects, monitoring health, determining optimal feeding requirements and planning microalgae production.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake all operational aspects of oyster hatchery production, maintaining exceptional hatchery hygiene.
  • Monitor oyster broodstock, spat, and larvae health, assessing gonadal development and reproductive maturation.
  • Determine optimal feeding requirements for maintaining larval conditions through grading, sorting, and larval density adjustments.
  • Establish and maintain microalgae production in an axenic environment, monitoring and assessing algal quality.
Qualifications and Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A minimum of a Diploma or Associate Diploma in Applied Science, Aquaculture, Fisheries Science, or equivalent.
  • A current 'C' class drivers license.
  • A keen eye for detail, excellent time management, and effective problem-solving skills.
