You will be involved in all aspects of oyster hatchery production, supporting the team to undertake a broad range of tasks including operational aspects, monitoring health, determining optimal feeding requirements and planning microalgae production.
This role offers a unique chance to work with passion and purpose, making a difference in the field of aquaculture. You will be part of a diverse team, working on interesting projects that require problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective time management.
Responsibilities- Undertake all operational aspects of oyster hatchery production, maintaining exceptional hatchery hygiene.
- Monitor oyster broodstock, spat, and larvae health, assessing gonadal development and reproductive maturation.
- Determine optimal feeding requirements for maintaining larval conditions through grading, sorting, and larval density adjustments.
- Establish and maintain microalgae production in an axenic environment, monitoring and assessing algal quality.
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- A minimum of a Diploma or Associate Diploma in Applied Science, Aquaculture, Fisheries Science, or equivalent.
- A current 'C' class drivers license.
- A keen eye for detail, excellent time management, and effective problem-solving skills.
